    Viasat — Founding Creative Leadership

    In-house | 2008–2021

    I joined Viasat in 2008 as a Graphic Designer, helping establish and grow the internal design function during a period of rapid expansion.


    Over more than a decade, my role evolved alongside the organization — from hands-on design execution to senior-level creative leadership — supporting nearly every aspect of brand communication while helping grow the design team from three to nine designers.

    I reported to the Creative Director while operating with a high degree of autonomy and trust. As responsibilities expanded, I led creative execution across complex projects — setting design standards, guiding and reviewing work from other designers, and partnering closely with marketing and executive stakeholders to ensure consistency and clarity across a wide range of brand touchpoints within a highly technical, engineering-driven environment.

    • Photography direction and visual storytelling
    • Senior design leadership, mentorship, and quality control
    • Cross-functional collaboration with marketing, communications, and executive teams

    Continued Partnership & Brand Transition

    In the final phase of my tenure, I transitioned out of full-time employment but was asked to maintain an ongoing creative relationship. During this period, I supported branding efforts through a company-wide rebrand and later contributed to social media and brand rollout work — providing continuity, institutional knowledge, and senior creative support during a period of organizational change.

    How This Experience Supports My Consulting Work

    Having spent over a decade inside a complex organization, I understand how design decisions are made — and where they break down. Working closely with a Creative Director while being trusted to execute at a high level shaped my ability to operate as a consultant who brings both strategic thinking and practical judgment.
